What to Expect for Orientation

What_to_Expect_at_Orientation-01

Expect nothing, my friends. Expect nothing, except craziness. Almost everything will be new to you. Unless you went to a boarding school. A lot of you are going to be living on your own for the very first time. Here are a few things different from home:

1. You’re probably gonna have to share a room. Most likely, you’ve never had a roommate before. It might take some time to get used to, but come with an open mind. It might be weird having to share a room at first, but many people become good friends with their roommates. Even if you don’t become best buds with your roommates, it is still an excellent growing experience.

2. Signing up for classes will be hectic. You may not know which classes to take or not to take, and people are going to give you different advice and tips. We believe that you should take it somewhat easy your first quarter, since you are still going to be adjusting to the college life and UCLA’s quarter system.

3. Make new friends! Try to get to know your orientation group mates. Your orientation group is usually made up of people from your major, so you are likely going to see them in your classes to.

4. Ask questions! Your New Student Advisor will give you a lot of information, so you might get confused or lost. Take notes, and if you need to clarify something, just ask! They are there to help you make sense of UCLA and classes, so don’t be afraid to ask.

Good luck and have fun at orientation!
